AUCKLAND

Tabletop roleplaying grabbed hold of me about four years ago and I have been wrapped in its clutches ever since. I am an English teacher by day, but once the sun goes down I morph into a guitar-wielding bard, a Dungeon Master, or Keeper of Arcane Lore. I love concocting complex characters, meaningful conflicts, music, and most importantly, fun and good laughs into the games that I play.

Like many of us, Dungeons and Dragons was my gateway into the meandering labyrinth of tabletop roleplaying. Within the dark and twisted passages, I have also discovered Call of Cthulhu, and Pirate Borg, which are also terrific games and well worth a try!

If you're keen to play out a tale of adventure, mystery, horror, or a sprawling realm of far-flung fantasy, let me know! Or if you've been playing D&D for a while and are interested in trying something new, then let's see if you can survive a scenario of cosmic horror in Call of Cthulhu, or a dark swash-buckling adventure on the high seas with Pirate Borg.

GAMES

Dungeons and Dragons - 5E
Call of Cthulhu - 6th or 7th edition
Pirate Borg
Romance of the Perilous Land

Only 1 available

We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. - H. P. Lovecraft

The Calling:

The darkness of All Hallows Eve beckons. Whispered mutterings of nameless horrors stutter through a darkened room where a solitary smokey candle burns low, casting leering, creeping, sputtering shadows. Pin-prick reflections of watching eyes gather and twitch in the black corners, waiting for the coming darkness. A sudden gust sweeps across a bare table and blows open a dusty leather-bound tome, the pages rustling in the wind like a magician shuffling cards. Then all goes still. The night takes a breath. The light of the dying candle dims and finally dies, but for the briefest moment, one word on the page lingers in a delicate neon haze, before it too fades into the blackness. The one word, Cthulhu.

You have heard the Call. Who will respond?

Description:

You are invited to join a Call of Cthulhu Halloween special. This in-person mini-campaign will run over four sessions on Thursday nights from the 9th to the 30th of October. Before we get underway we will have a free 'session zero' where we can meet each other, discuss expectations and boundaries, review the mechanics of Call of Cthulhu, and roll up our characters.

Expectations:

You'll enjoy this short campaign if you are a fan of horror films / literature, dark noir settings with a focus on investigative roleplaying, or if you have enjoyed D&D settings like Ravenloft. Players are not expected to be familiar with the rules of Call of Cthulhu; just bring a willingness to steer into the horror a bit and that will make the game exciting and challenging!
