This frontier town stands on the bones of a fallen age. Once a thriving settlement bound by friendship between humans, dwarves, firbolgs, and halflings, it was swept away centuries ago by an orc horde and left to rot beneath moss and ruin.

Now, pioneers from big cities have returned, carving homes and hope from the wild frontier. Farmers, miners, and wanderers seek fortune in the shadow of the mountains; yet their fragile peace is doomed to crack. A white dragon has descended from the north, bringing with it an unnatural winter that threatens to bury the land once more. Frost claims the forests, ice seals the mines, and the people’s hard-won dreams teeter on the edge of extinction.

In this campaign frame, you’ll play brave souls of this frontier town: unlikely heroes who refuse to see your settlement’s rebirth frozen beneath the dragon’s wrath. Together, you’ll decide what it takes to stand against the Frostfall.

The Frostfall Frontier is a Daggerheart campaign frame adapted from the classic Dungeons & Dragons module Dragon of Icespire Peak, designed to welcome D&D players into the system.

Game Expectations

The Frostfall Frontier is an adventurous campaign where hardships are overcome with hope and courage. The main media touchstones that inspire this frame are The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (2011), Banner Saga (2014), The Revenant (2015), and Red Dead Redemption II (2018). It circles around themes of climate change, destruction and renewal, and communal resilience.

This campaign is aimed at players who are over the age of 18, that have some experience with TTRPGs. The main pillars of my GMing style are roleplaying, exploration, and combat; and my tone is cinematographic with a dash of lighthearted sillyness, and a solid reliance on improv. Daggerheart is a rules-light system that greatly rewards roleplaying, improvisation, and the rule of cool.

The game will be played online fortnightly on Tuesday evenings, starting at 6pm. Each session runs for about 3 hours. Games will be run through Discord video calls for communication, Demiplane Nexus for character sheet management, and a mix of Roll20 and FreshCutGrass for combat and exploration management.
